Now you know how to freeze it, we’ve got our 3 top tips which we strongly recommend following when freezing jelly to have the best results:
Allow Jelly to Set – You need to wait until your jelly is completely set before you place it into the freezer. This is because premature freezing will prevent it from setting altogether. People often erroneously think that placing jelly in the freezer will automatically speed up its setting time.
Consider Alcoholic Content – Be mindful that jelly with a high alcohol content will take much longer to set than jelly without alcohol. The same is true for jelly that contains fruit juice, as the enzymes may be preventing the pectin from binding the jelly together. So, if you’ve used either in your homemade jelly mixture, make sure it’s completely set before you freeze it.
Freeze Into Ice Cubes – For something a little different, you can freeze jelly in an ice cube tray. This will give you perfect cubes of jelly once it has thawed and can make an attractive dessert option when you’re hosting dinner guests!
