In addition to the gold, silver and bronze awards, Pentawards sets up special awards every year, and this year's special awards include Design Agency of the Year, Best New Artist, Contribution to Education of the Year, Popular Choice, and Best Student Work. This year, for the first time, Pentawards partnered with Pantone, the global color authority, to create a new "Best Color Application Award."
Uk-based Design Bridge & Partners won the Design Agency of the Year award in this year's competition, with 10 entries shortlisted and eight winning, with the winning entries winning Platinum, Gold and silver respectively.

Retbaa and Kids, a new entry to the competition this year, won the Best New Artist award, and its winning work won a total of four gold awards.
